Shape the Future of Wind Energy Research

research | journal wind Energy Science

Wind Energy Science is a new international scientific peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to the publication and public discussion of studies of fundamental or pioneering research in wind energy, supported and managed by the eawe.

Why a new Journal

The wind energy community lacks an openaccess journal for rapid communication of high-quality research. Starting a new journal based on an innovative publication process and backed by the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) will provide a modern, efficient, and interactive forum for the latest research coming from the wind energy community.
Emanating from the EAWE scientific community Wind Energy Science aspires to become a global journal.

Scope

The academy identified long-term research challenges expected to have significant impact on wind energy and accelerate its development, which are the basis for the scope of the journal:

  • material science and structural mechanics;
  • wind and turbulence;
  • aerodynamics and hydrodynamics;
  • design methods, reliability, and uncertainty modelling;
  • control and system identification;
  • electricity conversion, the grid and power generation;
  • offshore technology;
  • environmental and socio-economic aspects.

Interactive Public Peer Review™

Wind Energy Science (WES) has an innovative two-stage publication process involving the scientific discussion forum Wind Energy Science Discussions (WESD).
In the first stage, papers that pass a rapid access peer-review are immediately published on the Wind Energy Science Discussions (WESD) website. They are then subject to Interactive Public Discussion, during which the referees' comments (anonymous or attributed), additional short comments by other members of the scientific community (attributed), and the authors' replies are also published in WESD. In the second stage, the peer-review process is completed and, if accepted, the final revised papers are published in WES. To ensure publication precedence for authors, and to provide a lasting record of scientific discussion, WESD and WES are both ISSN-registered, permanently archived, and fully citable.
