Shaping the Future of Wind Energy: The EAWE Strategy Committee's Vital Role

The EAWE Strategy Committee plays a central role in shaping the future direction of the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE). This committee is tasked with discussing and developing key strategies for the Academy’s function and development, ensuring that it continues to maintain high standards and quality across its activities, and preparing important proposals and recommendations for decision-making at the General Assembly (GA) meetings.

Background and vison

The EAWE Strategy Committee was established to provide thoughtful leadership and guidance to EAWE in its mission to promote wind energy research and education globally. As the wind energy sector continues to evolve rapidly, the committee’s role is to ensure that the Academy remains at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements in the field. The committee serves as a strategic think tank, helping to align EAWE’s initiatives with the latest developments in wind energy, as well as with the changing needs and challenges of the global energy transition.

The vision of the EAWE Strategy Committee is to continually enhance the Academy’s relevance, impact, and sustainability, ensuring it provides the best value to its members and contributes to the advancement of wind energy worldwide. By maintaining a forward-looking perspective, the committee works to position EAWE as a key player in the future of wind energy research and policy.

Objectives

  • Shaping the Academy’s Future: The committee discusses and evaluates the future direction of EAWE, identifying opportunities and challenges in wind energy research and development. It ensures that the Academy’s activities align with the evolving landscape of the wind energy sector and the broader renewable energy transition.
  • Maintaining Standards and Quality: One of the committee’s core functions is to uphold the Academy’s high standards of excellence and quality. It helps to ensure that EAWE’s scientific outputs, conferences, and collaborations maintain their reputation for rigor and innovation, and that the Academy’s initiatives reflect the latest scientific advancements in wind energy.
  • Preparing Proposals and Recommendations: The committee is responsible for preparing well-researched proposals and suggestions for decisions that are presented to the General Assembly (GA). This ensures that EAWE’s strategic decisions are well-founded, aligned with the Academy’s long-term goals, and supported by the wider membership.
  • Facilitating Collaboration: The committee works to foster collaboration among members, stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring that EAWE is a strong, cohesive body representing the diverse interests of the global wind energy community.

Help shaping the future of EAWE

Meeting Frequency

The EAWE Strategy Committee meets once a month, typically on the first Monday of each month. These meetings serve as an essential forum for discussing key strategic issues, reviewing progress on ongoing initiatives, and preparing recommendations for the GA. The committee’s monthly meetings ensure that the Academy remains agile and responsive to the needs of the wind energy sector.

Joining the Committee

The EAWE Strategy Committee is open to participation by all members of EAWE, with the aim of encouraging diverse perspectives and collaborative decision-making. In certain cases, non-EAWE members, such as experts or thought leaders in the wind energy field, may also be invited to participate. There are no formal limitations on membership, and the committee encourages the active involvement of individuals who are passionate about advancing the wind energy sector and the mission of the Academy.
