Wind Energy Science – Chief Editors

The Wind Energy Science journal is guided by a distinguished editorial committee composed of leading experts from various fields of wind energy research and technology. This committee is responsible for upholding the journal’s high standards of excellence and ensuring its mission to publish pioneering and high-quality scientific contributions that advance the understanding and development of wind energy.

Vision and Background

A Prestigious Journal

An International Journal for Interdisciplinary, Pioneering Wind Energy Research

Founded in 2015 by the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE), Wind Energy Science is dedicated to fostering scientific advancement and innovation in the field of wind energy. The journal serves as an open-access platform for sharing knowledge and supporting education, while leveraging EAWE’s global academic network to connect researchers, engineers, and policymakers. By doing so, Wind Energy Science plays a pivotal role in driving progress toward a more sustainable and efficient wind energy future.

Objectives

  • Advance Scientific Understanding: Publish cutting-edge research in areas such as atmospheric physics, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and dynamics that deepen the understanding of wind energy.
  • Promote Technological Innovation: Encourage innovative approaches and solutions that improve turbine designs, enhance system performance, and optimize the operational efficiency of wind energy technologies.
  • Support Multi-disciplinary Research: The journal embraces research from a broad range of fields, including material science, control systems, wind resource assessment, electrical integration, and offshore technologies, to drive advances in wind energy.
  • Foster Global Collaboration: Through EAWE’s extensive network, the journal facilitates international collaboration, enabling researchers from around the world to share their findings and address global challenges in wind energy development.
  • Influence Policy and Market Integration: Wind Energy Science strives to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications by addressing the integration of wind energy into energy systems, grid networks, and the broader renewable energy market.
  • Open Peer Review: WES has a unique interactive open peer-review process, where submitted papers are posted online and visible to the public throughout the entire review process. In addition to the expert referees nominated by the Editorial Board, readers too can post comments to a manuscript submitted to the journal. By taking an active role in the review of new research, readers can help improve scientific quality and foster discussion and transparency.

As a platform for interdisciplinary and fundamental research, the journal encourages public discussion and debate on the future of wind energy and its role in global sustainability efforts.
