Summer School: Model Predictive Control for Wind Turbines

Do not miss the event taking place from June 8-10, 2027.

EAWE members and students are invited to the Summer School “Model Predictive Control for Wind Turbines”, held 13–17 July 2026.

This five-day course combines lectures and hands-on exercises to introduce advanced wind turbine control, with a focus on Model Predictive Control (MPC). Participants will learn modelling, simulation, and controller design, culminating in implementation using OpenFAST.

Programme

Day 1

  • Wind energy fundamentals, modelling, and setup

Day 2

  • Control basics, load cases, simulations

Day 3

  • Reduced-order modelling

Day 4

  • Non-linear MPC and optimization

Day 5

  • Estimation and full controller implementation

Intended Audience

Students from European universities interested in wind turbine control and simulation.

Participation

Free of charge (travel, accommodation, and meals not included).

Dates

📅 13 July 2026, 09:00 – 17 July 2026, 16:00
